He was Technical Advisor of the National Administration of Foreign Trade (1974-1976); Technical Advisor of the Ministry of Economics and Finance (1977-1989); Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fishery (1990-1991); Advisor of the Board of Directors of ANTEL (1994-1997); elected Senator, substitute member of Congress 1990-1994; Member of the Commission of International Affairs of the Chamber of Senators; Representative and Advisor of the Uruguayan delegations for multiple commercial negotiations: Protocol of Commercial Expansion (Brazil); Uruguayan-Argentine Agreement on Economic Cooperation; GATT- Uruguay Round; Cairns Group; MERCOSUR; World Trade Organization.

Dr. CLAUDIO CAÑETTE

He was assistant professor of Civil and Contract Law from 1998 to 2002. He has specialized in Human rights and participated on behalf of UCUDAL in the II International Contest of Human Rights at American University, in Washington DC.

Dra. MARIA CASSARINO
Degree in Law (School of Law and Social Sciences of the University of the Republic of Uruguay, 1983-1989) and graduated from the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay (1987-1990).
She was member of the Uruguayan Foreign Service from 1987 to 1999, where she served at the Direction of International Organisations, the Permanent Mission of Uruguay in Geneva, and the General Direction for Integration and Mercosur issues. As a member of the Uruguayan negotiating team during the Uruguay Round, she had specific responsibilities on institutional-legal issues. In such capacity, she was the negotiator for Uruguay of the WTO Dispute Settlement Understanding and other institutional issues, including the agreement that established the WTO.
From June 1996 to February 1999 she was Consultant and Project Official of the Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Organisation for Migration, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Responsibilities included the design and development of technical co-operation projects for Mercosur countries, on the area of Integration and Migration.
In March, 1999, she returned to her post in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Uruguay, and joined the General Direction for Integration and Mercosur, responsible for Mercosur negotiations.
From 2003 she is Executive Secretary of the Uruguayan Council for International Relations (CURI).
In 2004 she joined Abreu, Abreu & Ferrés.
